Environmental Policy for Travelers

Travel Guide Costa Rica - Sustainable & responsible tourism

At Travel Guide Costa Rica we believe that traveling through Costa Rica should be an unforgettable experience and, at the same time, respectful of the environment.

As a pioneering country in environmental conservation and sustainable tourism, Costa Rica actively protects its forests, beaches, rivers, wildlife, and national parks. That is why we invite all our travelers to adopt responsible practices during our tours and transportation services.

Our Environmental Commitment

Travel Guide Costa Rica commits to:

Waste Management Policy in Transportation

To keep Costa Rica's roads, communities, and natural areas clean:

In all our transportation units:

  • Each vehicle has an internal trash bin for waste disposal.
  • Passengers are asked not to throw trash out of windows or doors.
  • Waste will be collected and disposed of properly at the end of each service.
  • We promote the reduction of single-use plastics.
  • We recommend using reusable bottles and eco-friendly items.

Waste Separation

When possible, we encourage the separation of:

Plastic
Aluminum
Paper
Organic

Responsible Behavior in Nature

Costa Rica is home to nearly 6% of the world's biodiversity. Help us protect it by following these recommendations:

Respect for Wildlife

  • Do not touch or chase animals.
  • Keep a safe distance from wildlife.

Ecosystem Protection

  • Stay on authorized trails.
  • Do not remove plants, stones, shells, or natural elements.
  • Do not damage reefs, mangroves, or forests.

Responsible Waste Management

  • Always carry your trash until you find a proper container.
  • Avoid leaving waste on beaches, rivers, or national parks.

Pollution Reduction

  • Avoid excessive use of disposable plastics.
  • Minimize noise in natural areas.
  • Use biodegradable sunscreens and products when possible.

Responsible Use of Water and Energy

We invite our travelers to:

  • Use water consciously.
  • Turn off lights and air conditioning when not needed.
  • Support local businesses committed to sustainability.

Compliance with Costa Rica's Environmental Regulations

This policy is inspired by principles promoted by Costa Rica's environmental institutions and programs, including:

  • Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT)
  • Sustainable Tourism Program
  • Current Costa Rican environmental legislation

Education and Environmental Awareness

Our goal is for every visitor to:

  • Enjoy Costa Rica,
  • Get to know its natural richness,
  • And actively contribute to its conservation for future generations.

An Invitation to Travelers

"Traveling responsibly means leaving only footprints and taking only memories."
